Anemia is a condition when your body does not produce enough of red blood cells. There are several factors responsible for causing anemia. Usually the formation of red blood cells takes place in the bone marrow and they last for 90 to 120 days. Hemoglobin present in the red blood cells transport oxygen throughout the body. Lack of hemoglobin in the blood is the main cause of anemia.
Types of Anemia
There are several types of anemia depending upon the vitamin and mineral deficiencies like B12, Folate, Iron etc, Hemolytic anemia, Idiopathic aplastic anemia, Anemia due to chronic diseases, Megaloblastic Anemia, Secondary Aplastic Anemia, Sickle cell anemia, pernicious anemia, Thalassemia Anemia etc.
Causes of Anemia
There are many possible cause of anemia such as side effects of medications, chronic diseases like cancer, colitis, arthritis, Kidney failure etc. Some reasons can be blood loss due to menstruation, accident, piles etc. Other causes of anemia can be hypothyroidism, pregnancy or poor diet. If there is any disease related to bone marrow like leukemia, myeloma, lymphoma etc., then also there is equal chance of anemia.
Diagnosis of Anemia
Anemia can be diagnosed when the symptoms are acute and sometimes the sufferer is also not aware of the disease. But the disease is curable as well as manageable with proper diet and precautions. Certain acts of the individual like consuming mud, chewing nails or chalk shows the deficiency of iron and calcium. It is advised that every individual should go through regular health and blood checkups to find out the CBC count, platelets count etc.

Anemia is basically a dietary deficiency disease which is mainly causes due to the lack of adequate balanced nutrition. This disease can easily be managed with the inclusion of Vitamin B12, Vitamin C, Folic acid and iron rich content diet.
